A417 Missing Link project

Andrew Uncles and Alfie Townley attended the Constructing Excellence Gloucestershire Club site visit to the A417 Missing Link project.

Hosted by Kier Group and National Highways, the visit provided valuable insight into one of the UK’s most significant highways infrastructure schemes. The team had the opportunity to see the impressive progress being made on site, including the extensive earthworks and engineering works that are transforming the route.

The £460m National Highways scheme is a major infrastructure project designed to improve safety, reduce congestion, and better connect communities along the A417. The link will enhance connectivity between Gloucester and Swindon, delivering a safer, more reliable, and efficient route for road users. It’s also notable for its commitment to working with the landscape and minimising visual impact across the Cotswolds.

We look forward to seeing the continued progress—and to travelling the completed route in the future.
