Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge

Full design was provided for this new research building for Imperial College outside Cambridge. It consists of a three storey steel frame building supported off reinforced and mass concrete foundations. A precast concrete ground beam was constructed to the perimeter and central spine of the building. Reinforced concrete lift and stair cores were constructed to provide lateral stability to the buildings along with vertical access to the floors. The external envelope was formed of render on a cladding to the external walls and metal cladding to the roof, supported off hot and cold formed steel purlin & sheeting rail sections. Curtain walling was installed by a specialist constructor supported off the steel frame to all the elevations.
