Practice Profile

  • Simpson Associates is a broad based Civil and Structural Engineering Practice, established in Henley on Thames in 1969.  We have remained in the town since that time and have maintained an office in Cheltenham since 1993.  The Practice is a Partnership of Mike Ellis, based in Henley on Thames and David Partridge in Cheltenham.  We are Members of the Association of Consulting Engineers and take advantage of their professional indemnity insurance scheme.
  • Our expertise relates to a broad range of building structure and civil engineering works.  We aim to provide an efficient, economical and professional service to all Clients and other members of their team.  Potential problems are identified at the earliest opportunity and resolved in co-operation with other members of the team.
  • We are committed to the team approach to construction and are involved in partnering arrangements with several national clients including Whitbread plc and Redrow Homes Ltd.  The spirit of these arrangements encourages rapid response and decision-making.  Our role with clients ranges from unlocking the engineering issues surrounding development sites through to detail design and site supervision.
  • All projects are overseen by a Chartered Engineer who is responsible for ensuring that all staff employed on the project are suitably qualified for their involvement and familiar with the impact of Health & Safety requirements on the design.  It is the responsibility of the Engineer controlling the project to ensure at the planning stage that adequate time and resources are allocated to fulfill all elements of the design process.
  • Information is presented using fully networked in-house AutoCADŽ facilities. Computer Aided Design software is available for design and analysis.
  •  A full technical support library is available in-house on computer.  We are members of the BSI, the Concrete Society and the Society for Protection of Ancient Buildings.  All staff are encouraged to discuss technical issues and share the results of research carried out during project works, thus creating a robust technical framework.
